An introduction to the theory and practice of Gestalt therapy
This short course over two weekends will cover the basic principles of Gestalt theory and practice. It is for anyone who is interested in finding out about the Gestalt approach to psychotherapy. This workshop will be concerned with how we can foster dialogue in the therapeutic relationship. There will be theoretical input as well as opportunities to experiment in triads or in a 'fish-bowl' configuration. Philip will also be available to work with individuals using this approach.
Philip Lichtenberg
Philip retired as Professor Emeritus from Bryn Mawr College, Pennsylvania in 1996 after more that 35 years teaching in the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research. He has been co-director and senior faculty member of The Gestalt Therapy Institute of Philadelphia since its beginning in 1984. He is also a full member of The New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy.
Philip has retired from seeing clients, but continues to supervise therapists and run a study group. He has authored six books, including Community and Confluence: Undoing the Clinch of Oppression, and Encountering Bigotry: Befriending Projecting Persons in Everyday Life.
Philip has trained in France, Italy, Northern Ireland, Argentina, Brazil and various locations in the USA.
