Gestalt Therapy as Embodied Relational Practice
with Michael Clemmens PhD
Nine-day international postgraduate training in Edinburgh, Scotland
Edinburgh Gestalt Institute invites applications for this course. It is designed for Gestalt psychotherapists who have completed a diploma-level Gestalt training and who wish to develop and deepen their embodied relational practice. It comprises three modules:

The group will use experiential exercises, small group practice, demonstration and discussion to explore the above themes, and in particular:
• the ways in which we create relationships with ourselves and others through our vision, movement and posture;
• the stories we have embodied in our core movements, and movement patterns that are novel for us and a precursor to change;
• physical experience as practitioners from a phenomenological and dialogic stance;
• our physical process as attunement to our clients and ourselves; and
• broadening and deepening our somatic repertoire.

Michael Craig Clemmens PhD is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Pittsburgh, PA., working with individuals and couples. Michael is a professional staff member of the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland where he co-chairs the advanced training in Structure, Dialogue and Improvisation and teaches in the Physical Process training program. He also teaches in the US at the Esalen Institute and at Gestalt institutes in the US and abroad. Michael is the author of Getting Beyond Sobriety: Clinical Approaches to Long Term Recovery, other articles on Gestalt Therapy and co author with Arie Bursztyn of “The Embodied Field: Culture and Body” published in The Bridge: Dialogues Across Culture.
