Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy

This three-year training develops and extends the work of the foundation course, providing a thorough grounding in Gestalt psychotherapy theory and a rigorous training in Gestalt psychotherapy skills and clinical practice. It is possible to join this training at any stage, provided you have undertaken sufficient equivalent training and have some experience of Gestalt. Starts: Autumn 2010
Year One
This year develops the work of the foundation year on awareness, contact and dialogue in the therapeutic relationship, and gives opportunities for practice and experiment within the group setting and in one-to-one practice with fellow group members.
Year Two
The focus of this year is on supporting the trainee towards starting to work with clients under close supervision. We will explore fundamental issues concerning the psychotherapeutic relationship.
Year Three
In this year trainees develop their clinical practice under supervision and look at Gestalt psychotherapy theory as it relates to their practice. They also have the opportunity to look at psychotherapy theories from other approaches. Trainees are expected to take more responsibility for their learning in this year. Each of these three years includes some residential training time.
